Retaining Wall Mural

The retaining wall along the Iroquois River was attracting unwanted graffiti before 2019 and a proposed solution was to have a mural painted on it. With the help of the Tippecanoe Arts Federation. a group of artists, led and curated by Cameron Moberg, was found to paint a collaborative mural on the wall. The decision put a mural on this wall led to the rest of RENARTWLK 2019.

The mural is very long and impossible to capture well in one photograph. At the west end is a list of the artists who contributed. After a large "Rensselaer Indiana" that Cameron Moberg painted, there is a grasshopper by Jenna Morello, who also painted the dandelions on either side of the bear. The bear was painted by Cobre. Next is a frog by Morello, then a fish by Cameron Moberg. Emily Ding did background, including the water for the fish. The crane was done by Royyal Dog and the butterflies by Cameron Moberg. Under the bridge Moberg had local citizens fill in wings, which he then outlined them in black, so some Rensselaerians can claim credit for part of the mural.

On the pier of the bridge several local youths had established an impromptu memorial for a friend killed in an auto accident. During the mural week the pier was used by citizens to practice spray painting. Moberg then redid the memorial, making it far better than the original.
