Memories Alive at Weston Cemetery

In 2018 the Jasper County Historical Society initiated what it hopes will be an annual event, a walking tour of Weston Cemetery. The tour was modeled on several other walking tours that use costumed actors to portray people buried in the cemetery, such as those of Elgin and Bloomington, Illinois. The goal of the event is to present history in an entertaining and enjoyable way.

Weston Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Jasper County and is operated by the City of Rensselaer. Its first burial was in 1842 and it currently has more than 7500 graves.
