Method: Using a statistical procedure called linear regression, explain state times based on semi-state times and location. This gives us an equation to predict state times for those who did not go to state. People who went to state get the better of their state or semi-state preformances (the later adjusted to predict what it would have been at state.) These results are then used to compute team scores. However, I did not take out runners who had an incomplete team, so scoring is done by place, not score. This inflates scores a bit. There has been a general sentiment that the FC semistate was by far the toughest, and these results agree with that.
 
Why is Chatard third? It is because the results from semistate have a fourth place finisher who does not run in state. Their fourth place finisher in state does not run in semistate. Was that what happened, or are the names on the results screwed up?
 
Finally, note that these are just estimates based on two meets. If you take 10% of the score and add it on, that probably gives an upper bound of where the team belongs. Subtract that ten percent and you probably have the lower bound of where a team belongs. Teams that are only separated by a few points are basically even. If a team had a poor showing at semistate, these rankings will capture that poor showing and cannot correct for it.
