BetterIngriana (Plain, Bold, Italic, BoldItalic)

(available at myfonts.com)

One of the neat features of Fontographer is its ability to blend or interpolate fonts. If the points that make up the outlines of two fonts have a one-to-one correspondence, Fontographer can interpolate between those two paths. It takes a long while to set up the one-to-one correspondence, but once this boring work is completed, the resulting 'cross-breeding" can be fascinating.

I created a group of hybrid text fonts are blends of some of my text-like fonts. The four base fonts that form the parents of the group are BetterTypeRight, Euroika, Ingriana, and KampFriendship. To get these fonts ready for blending, some of the characters had to be changed; this was especially true for those involving the italics of Ingriana.

The four parent fonts are very different in their characteristics, and I think yield interesting offspring. BetterTypeWrite is semi-informal, but with almost a typewriter look, Euroika is a decorative font with a great deal of contrast, Ingriana is a casual and unusual text font, and KampFriendship is almost a handwritten font.

BetterIngriana is a blend of BetterTypeWrite and Ingriana.
